Exam photo and signature checklist

Before you start the form, have three things ready as JPG files: a recent passport-style photo on a plain light background, a signature in running letters on white paper, and, for some exams, a left thumb impression. Match the KB and pixel sizes in your exam notice.

Photo

  • Recent colour photo, face front, both eyes open, plain light or white background.
  • Typical size: 20 to 50 KB, though some exams allow up to 200 KB.
  • JPG format. Keep the original in case you need to redo it.

Signature

  • Sign in running letters, not capitals, with a black or dark blue pen on white paper.
  • Typical size: 10 to 20 KB, about 140 × 60 px for several exams.
  • Crop tight around the signature so it fills the frame.

Thumb impression (some exams)

  • Use a clean ink pad and press the left thumb on white paper.
  • Typical size: 20 to 50 KB. Scan or photograph it flat in good light.

Before you submit

  • Check each file's size on your phone or computer.
  • Open each one to be sure it is the right way up and sharp.
  • Keep copies of the final files and the application number.

Questions people ask

Which exams need a thumb impression?

Some banking and eligibility exams, such as IBPS and NEET, ask for a left thumb impression. Check your exam page.

Can I use the same photo for every exam?

You can use the same source photo, but resize it for each exam because the size and pixels differ.

Is it safe to use an online tool for my photo or ID?

With Resize Baba, yes: the work happens inside your browser, so the picture or PDF is never uploaded or stored on a server.
