JPG, PNG or WebP: which format for online forms?
Use JPG. Almost every exam and job portal accepts it, and the files are small. PNG files are much larger for photos, and many portals reject WebP and HEIC. If your photo is in another format, convert it to JPG first.

The differences
- JPG: small files, good for photos, accepted almost everywhere.
- PNG: sharp edges and transparency, but photos become large. Good for logos.
- WebP: smaller than JPG, great for websites, but many forms don't accept it.
- HEIC: the iPhone default. Most portals reject it.
How to convert
Open the converter for your format (for example WebP to JPG), drop the image in and download the JPG. After converting, resize to the exact KB the form needs.
Questions people ask
Why won't the form accept my PNG?
Some forms accept only JPG or JPEG. Convert the PNG to JPG.
Does converting to JPG lose quality?
Slightly, but at 90% or higher it is not visible for forms.
What about transparent backgrounds?
JPG has no transparency: transparent areas become white, which is usually what a form wants.
